Ireland's No. 1 FREE magazines for parents & teachers of primary school children
This Easter, the Irish National Stud & Gardens invites families to tumble into a world of imagination as a four‑day Alice in Wonderland–themed event takes over the iconic Kildare attraction. Taking place from Good Friday, 3rd April, to Easter Monday, 6th April, this is a fun-filled magical experience for all the family to enjoy.
Throughout the Easter Weekend, families can visit the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, enjoy themed arts and crafts, visit The Queen of Hearts and Cheshire Cat inspired rooms and much more. A highlight of the weekend will be the Alice in Wonderland Scavenger Hunt, running daily with fantastic prizes on offer for clever explorers who can solve the clues and complete the trail.
Across the Irish National Stud & Gardens, spring is already bursting into life. Foaling Season is in full flow, bringing a sense of renewal and excitement as mares welcome their 2026 foals. Visitors can witness these magical first moments in the Foaling Unit, where expert staff provide round‑the‑clock care, before watching the young foals take their first playful steps in the Kildare Yard paddocks under the watchful eyes of their mothers.
Spring is also one of the most captivating times to explore the Japanese Gardens, designed by Tassa Eida between 1906 and 1910. Visitors can walk the Path of Life through intricate planting, flowing waterways and explore landmarks including the iconic Red Bridge, the peaceful Tea House and the famed Hill of Ambition. Nearby, St. Fiachra’s Garden offers a serene, nature‑rich sanctuary inspired by Ireland’s monastic past, where ducks glide across the lake and visitors might even catch a glimpse of a rabbit darting across the paths.
For those seeking adventure, the Irish National Stud & Gardens is brimming with opportunities — from the Buglington Hotel and Fairy Trail to the Fairy Village, playground and picnic areas. The award‑winning Irish Racehorse Experience is another must-do with Ireland’s only interactive journey through the life of a racehorse, culminating in the thrill of The Big Race on a state‑of‑the‑art simulator.
Cathal Beale, CEO of the Irish National Stud & Gardens, says: “Easter is a wonderful time for families to visit the Irish National Stud & Gardens. With children off school and the whole stud bursting into spring, there’s a real sense of energy and new beginnings. Our foals are only finding their feet, the paddocks are full of life, and there’s something very special about watching young visitors see horses up close — often for the very first time. Pair that with the magic of our Alice in Wonderland Easter activities, and it creates a perfect day out in nature for families looking to make memories together.”
Open seven days a week from 9am, the Irish National Stud & Gardens invites visitors to experience the Stud as it comes to life this spring.
Alice’s Easter Wonderland at the Irish National Stud & Gardens runs from Good Friday, 3rd April, to Easter Monday, 6th April and all activities are included in general admission over the four days.
