13-year-old Anna Kearney will represent Ireland at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest final in Poland on Sunday

Anna, who is from Foxrock in County Dublin, was selected to represent Ireland on TG4's Junior Eurovision Éire 2019 in October. She impressed judges, particularly Linda Martin, with her rendition of Johnny Logan's 'Why Me', and her contemporary choice, 'Symphony' by Clean Bandit.   Anna will sing the song 'Banshee', a song about overcoming fears. She wrote Banshee with Niall Mooney, Fiachna Ó Braonáin and Anna Banks and composed by Cyprian Cassar, Jonas Gladnikoff and Daniel Caruana.

A seasoned performer, Anna has performed on Broadway with the group The Rockettes. In 2017 she played the lead role of Annie at The National Concert Hall in Dublin. She has won numerous Feis competitions and has even danced for the Pope.

This is not her family's first time to be involved with the Eurovision. Her mum Eileen was part of the iconic Irish dancing troupe that brought Riverdance to the world during the Eurovision Contest in 1994.

Ireland made its first appearance at the junior contest in 2015 in Sofia, Bulgaria. That year, Aimee Banks finished 12th with the “Réalta Na Mara”. The country secured its best placing in 2016, when Zena Donnelly came tenth. Last year, Taylor Hynes finished 15th with “IOU”.

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held in the Gliwice Arena, Poland, on November 24 and will broadcast live on the TG4 player tg4.ie at 3pm with delayed coverage at 7pm on TG4.
