This mid-term, become a dance music producer in this music technology workshop especially for ages 8+. Part of the Bram Stoker Festival 2017
Make great music using just a computer and your own musical imagination. Learn how to use music technology using a programme called Abelton Live that is used in professional music recording studios. Once you’ve got the hang of the basics there will be a chance to try out making your own dance track, or maybe have a go at more advanced options like remixing or mashing up your favourite tracks. After that the sky is the limit as to what music you can make.
Tracks will be recorded and uploaded to Soundcloud so you can easily share it with your friends afterwards. These music technology workshops are led by tutors from Create Sound who are experienced producers, DJs and workshop facilitators.
Laptops, headphones and all equipment provided and no prior experience is needed – just a love of music!

Songwriting & Digital Tools Workshop | 1 Nov 2017
Learn how to create your own original pop songs in a lively workshop led by artists from Songschool. Invent your own lyrics and then come up with rhythms and melodies to turn them into a new smash hit!
Starting with fun music warm-ups, the group will then be guided in creating lyrics and music for a new song. Along the way you’ll get to explore song structure, composing, arranging and performance. Music software will be used to help you including Garage Band and Music Memos.
There is a strong focus on collaboration, creativity, confidence building and self-expression. The ability to play an instrument is not necessary, just the willingness to join in and give songwriting a try. The workshop is led by accomplished songwriters who are part of the Songschool music education company team.
We will also record a live demo audio recording of the song at the end of the workshop which will help you remember the song afterwards and we will share it with you using SoundCloud which you can use to share if you wish.
Suitable for any level of musical experience.

Create your own fun and spooky music, soundscapes and songs for the week that’s in it with the help of Lorna McLaughlin, a member of the band The Henry Girls.
Lorna and her band write their own songs and perform their music all over the world and she will share with you some really fun and funky ways to create music as a group. By the end of this workshop, you’ll be delighted with what you have made with your voice and musical imagination. If you happen to play an instrument, you can bring that along too.
All of the music you create will be recorded as a live demo audio recording to help you remember it afterwards and for you to share using SoundCloud if you wish.
